Popular Nashville pizza joint DeSano Pizza just opened its second Nashville location on the west side at Bellevue's new shopping complex, One Bellevue Place. Other recently-opened restaurants at the mixed-use development include PDK Southern Kitchen & Pantry, The Eastern Peak and others.

What to know

At DeSano Pizza, pizzas are made following strict guidelines in place by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (VPN), which the company says preserves the centuries old craft of making authentic Neapolitan pizza.

This means your pizza pies are cooked in a wood-fired oven for 90 seconds, leaving the crust slightly charred in the process.

What's on the menu

All pizzas are served to customers on a silver pan and made with San Marzano tomato sauce and mozzarella di bufala. From there, you can order pizzas topped with basil, garlic, scamorza, pecorino romano, olive oil and other ingredients.

You can also tap into other Italian specialties like calzones and homemade cannoli. According to DeSano, ingredients are flown in weekly from Napoli and Campania.

The first DeSano Pizza opened in Nashville in 2012, followed by a string of others in California, North Carolina and Texas. The Bellevue location is open 5-10 p.m. with plans to extend in the future.
