Minerva Avenue, located in North Nashville's buzzing Buchanan Arts District at 1002 Buchanan St., opens Friday. If you stop by the cocktail bar, expect to be transported back in time. The bar plans to play a steady stream of '80s and '90s classics, along with menus made from VHS boxes and cocktails named after movies like Toy StoryJerry MaguireHardball and others.

What to know

In order to enter Minerva Avenue, patrons will need to knock on the bar's surrounding fence or pick up the phone hanging next to it. There's even a peephole to catch a glimpse of inside the bar.

Along with cocktails and alcoholic/non-alcoholic snow cones, Minerva Avenue will serve sandwiches, hummus and pita bread and gourmet popcorn (hot jalapeño, kettle corn, vegan cheddar and others). The menu also features $15 cigars.
