The city of Belle Meade extended dumpster access hours for residents following new regulations that minimized overflow and misuse of the city dumpsters.
City dumpsters located behind City Hall are now open sunrise to sunset daily. In the event all three dumpsters are full, officials will close them off until they can be emptied.
As of late 2018, only Belle Meade residents are permitted to use the dumpsters. The change was in response to continued overuse of the service, which officials say resulted in extra costs and fines for the trash contractor.
The access door to the dumpsters remains locked at all times. A call button on the intercom rings a dispatcher in the police department, who will then view an ID to verify Belle Meade residency.
City Hall is located at 4705 Harding Pike.
