If you’re planning to enroll your child in private education, most schools often require the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE) for admission.

The exam is offered in December, January and early February throughout Nashville, including at Harpeth Hall, Ensworth and other local private schools. ISEE test locations and dates will be available for viewing and registration the first week of August at erblearn.org

Other tests to know about, for both public and private school students, are the ACT and SAT.

Tennessee public school students earned an average ACT composite score of 20.1 in 2017, an increase from the 2016 average of 19.9. The statewide data for 2018 will likely be released in late summer or early fall.

To receive a high school diploma, all public school students enrolled in a Tennessee public school during their 11th grade year must take either the ACT or SAT prior to graduation.
