For the second time in as many years, Gymboree has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. However, it appears this time the children's clothing retailer is shutting down for good.
Gymboree, based in San Francisco, announced on Wednesday it will close all of its Gymboree and Crazy 8 stores.
"The Company has worked diligently in recent months to explore options for Gymboree Group and its brands, and we are saddened and highly disappointed that we must move ahead with a wind-down of the Gymboree and Crazy 8 businesses," Shaz Kahng, Gymboree Group CEO, said in a news release.
As Rover reported in July of 2018, the Gymboree store at The Mall at Green Hills closed last year during the company's first bankruptcy filing.
Gymboree currently has stores at Cool Springs Galleria, Opry Mills, and in Lebanon. Crazy 8 also has locations at Cool Springs, Opry Mills, and in Murfreesboro.
Gymboree Group's Janie and Jack stores, a higher-end line, are expected to be sold through bankruptcy court auction next month.
Janie and Jack once had a store at The Mall at Green Hills but it, too, has already closed. There is a Janie and Jack store at Opry Mills and at Cool Springs.
